Niccole Khail

Director of Worship and Arts

I’m not sure which came first when I was four, becoming a Christian or figuring out how to play the opening piano part to “Another Night, Another Dream” on my octave-and-a-half toy keyboard. (I’m not endorsing that song in content, but that piano part is still stellar.) Both music and Jesus were in my life, and they never left.

In college, I got involved in a campus ministry (Cru) and got to start leading corporate worship for the first time. My senior year, I started attending High Point, where I was meaningfully poured into by the staff and pastors. After college, I got married to my husband, Scott, and we started working with Cru in the Twin Cities. Several years later in 2016, we moved back to Madison and I took the Worship Director job here.

My worship and church background varies from growing up in a tiny country church with piano and organ (no guitars allowed!), to a church that played exclusively hymns but in an alternative grunge rock style (the louder the better!), to churches with classic 2000s Hillsong, and I’ve learned a lot from this diverse upbringing. I see our worship services as an opportunity for us to prepare our hearts to behold the glory of God in all of its multifaceted expressions, and then to be shaped by the truth and love we experience. I love working with the worship team volunteers and seeing them use the skills God has given them to serve their church. If I can replace myself, I’m doing my job right.

My husband, Scott, and I have four crazy, young sons and a dog who wishes he lived with empty-nesters. Scott is an artist, too; when we had no children, you could find us enjoying new food at a great restaurant, or overanalyzing the most recent movie we watched to find the artistic themes throughout.. but now we’re mostly changing diapers and breaking up various forms of wrestling. It’s the best. And also I would love some coffee.
