Ash Wednesday

February 17, 2021 7:00pm

Address: High Point Church, 7702 Old Sauk Road, Madison, WI US 53717

Lent is often described as a season of preparation and an opportunity to go deeper with God. It spans the time between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday. On Easter Sunday we remember that because of the risen Christ, we are reconciled to God—that there is no longer a divide, and God's right wrath toward us is no longer our reward.

However, on Ash Wednesday, we take time to remember why we needed the death of Jesus in the first place. We take a moment to recognize that ash is a perfect metaphor for what we've made of our lives without the saving work of Christ. That we are dust, and without Jesus to dust we will return.

Join us for our Ash Wednesday service. Without Jesus we are lost—which is what we need to remember as we prepare our hearts for Resurrection Sunday.

If you're able to join us in-person:

We're excited to see you! The service will begin at 7pm, and doors will open at 6:45pm. There will be childcare for ages 0 – 3. Only 8 spots are available, so sign up soon!

In accordance with Dane County's regulations, we are requiring masks for all individuals attending church, with these exceptions: Individuals with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents them from wearing a face covering, and children under 5 years old.

If you're unable to join us in-person:

We are NOT livestreaming this service. Instead, we are providing an at-home liturgy that you can do by yourself or with a group. We hope you find this a helpful resource to begin the season of Lent.
