Special Congregational Meeting

We will be holding a special congregational meeting on February 2 at 6:30pm where we will vote on whether or not to open the staff position of Director of Congregational Support and Discipleship.

For context, the purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the updated approach to hiring positions within the Congregational Support and Discipleship department. The current plan, as approved by the Associate Pastor search committee as well as the elder board, is to hire Sawyer Henderson as the Director of Congregational Support and Discipleship.

This is a shift in direction and a middle position between two current open positions (Associate Pastor of Congregational Care and Discipleship and the Small Groups Director positions), with the hope and intention that Sawyer will grow over time to eventually (pending congregational calling/vote at that time) become a pastor at High Point in this department.

While this vote to open this new director-level position is not necessarily required by our church by-laws, as pastors and leaders we strive not only to be completely trustworthy, but also to appear in all instances to be trustworthy- that is, to be above reproach by being as transparent as we can be with you, the congregation. For that reason, we would like to bring this decision to the congregation for a vote.

Thus, at the congregational meeting on February 2, we will vote on whether or not to open the staff position of Director of Congregational Support and Discipleship.

As with other congregational meetings, there will be an opportunity to participate and vote both in-person and virtually. Details for that will follow ahead of the meeting on February 2.
