Jesus says, “The worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desire for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful” (Mark 4:19). This is a definition of worldliness: the thing that is choking our faith (Gibson, 2017). This distortion affects every part of our life if we let the world build our daily habits. God created us to have control over our reactions, emotions, habits and character. One of the greatest ways we can change ourselves for the better is to choose the habits that will shape the intuitive and automatic functions of our character through discipline. God gives us the content of these thoughts and actions in doctrines and teachings, but we establish them in habit and character through disciplines, practices, rituals, and by taking on responsibilities and rhythms. This course will reference both Sunday sermons and the book Substance: Becoming Oaks of Righteousness in a World of Vapor (Gibson, 2017). The class will provide the space to be curious about the current habits we hold. We will share applicable examples of how to measure current habits, subtract diversions and poisonous activities, and rebuild our lives around spiritual disciplines to live a substantive life in Christ.
Manuscript Bible Study

The Bible is a profound book with a unified message that God wrote through many different people, genres, and historical contexts. Yet, the Scriptures say about themselves that they are accessible to everyone for wisdom (Psalm 19:7-9). This fall, we'll be resuming in Matthew, after a break for our summer study of 1 John. No need to RSVP!

Advent Growth Class – Keep Watch

This is another class held by the spectacular A.C.E. committee where church members and pastors will share testimonies of how God has met them in the midst of the darker times in life. Listening to these stories, we will reflect on our own, continuing the narrative of God's faithfulness to His people. Sign up isn't required, but encouraged!
HIGH POINT 101.
MEMBERSHIP IN THE LOCAL CHURCH.
Come see what we're about! HP101 is a class offered to holistically grasp what it looks like to be a member of the High Point Church family. We offer this class 3 times a year: Winter (February), Summer (July), and Fall (September/October) on Sunday Morning during one of the services.
This class is a requirement for membership—but everyone is encouraged to attend!
GOALS OF THIS CLASS
- This class will help welcome you into the family of High Point Church.
- This class will teach what we, as Christians at High Point, believe—the biblical background to our values.
- This class will clarify the stepping stones that build the path of an ever-growing experience as a Christian participating in the local church.
FORMAT OF THIS CLASS
- There are 5 podcasts that deliver the informational content of HP101 and 3 Class Discussions, plus an intro class.
- The classes will take place in person.
- Participants will listen to one or two podcasts each week before the Class Discussions.
- At the end of the class, there will be an opportunity to sign up for a membership interview.

We offer this class on a seasonal and as-needed basis to help new couples in their journeys together. Whether you are seriously dating, engaged, or newly married, this is the class for you. We hope to see you there!
This class explores marriage and its components: Communication, Problem Solving, Sex, In-laws, Family of Origin, Managing Expectations, A Look Ahead at Parenting, Finances, Spiritual Growth and more. A lot of time is dedicated to discussion—and this class is a great way to meet others in the same stage of life as you!
